This is about the Sephora in Ottawa at Rideau Center.
This is the one stop shop for all sorts of makeup, skin care, and fragrance. They carry mid to high end products so don't expect things to be particularly cheap there. The customer service is great, very helpful and attentive but not super pushy when you show interest in a product. Also they aren't snobby at all which is a major bonus, I find the Bay and Sears can tend to ignore me or not offer me good info because I look younger or I'm dressed super casual.
The testers are usually pretty gross but that's not really do to the store. My boyfriend hates the strong perfume smell from all the perfume testers so if you're sensitive to perfumes I would stay away.
My favourite place to purchase make-up from. The staff are almost always friendly and helpful, and I love the make-up that they carry here. It can get pricey depending on what you buy, but most items are totally worth every single penny! The NAKED palette is almost always sold out immediately after it's stocked up again, and the staff will help you hold one if you call them ahead of time. Definitely the only place i trust completely for good quality make up.
Sephora is THE place to go for make-up. They have a variety of good quality brands and make-up selection. The service is also pretty good but it's always so crowded that it's hard to find services sometimes.
Love shopping at Sephora. Like to get up close to the products and browse the samplers. Great gifts as well. The beauty advisors always make great suggestions.
If you're looking for high end cosmetics and staff who are friendly and knowledgeable, then Sephora is the place to go. Whether shopping online or in-store, Sephora has a wide selection of hair care, bath and body, and makeup products for every style and budget. It's essentially a one-stop-shop for beauty lovers and the only place a girl needs to go for her everyday beauty essentials. If you aren't already a frequent buyer, become one. You won't regret it!
Sephora.com has way more than the stores, but the store itself is an hour of fun and then some.
Staff are knowledgeable, although there are never enough Sephorites around - maybe there are just too many shoppers...Regardless, when you finally get service, they are full of answers and suggestions..that's all I need from a beauty advisor.
It's also the land of try before you buy...and I think we all know that samples are a beauty junkies' best friend.
They have a reward card: http://gracefulglutton.blogspot.com/2010/07/sephora.html.
Okay so a lot of my friends actually haven't heard of Sephora. It is basically the biggest makeup store there is. It is all high-end products. They carry many brands. Some have their own stores (Bare Esscentials, Urban Decay, Philosophy) and some brands are only available at Sephora (Sephora brand) and some are very high end (Lancome, Dior).
The store is set up in a bunch of little booth type things. They are two sided with at least one brand on each side. At the ends are little makeup stations where there is a mirror, qtips, tissues, makeup remover, and trash all for testing out makeup.
Next to every product is a tester. Some testers are like new....others are completely gross! Remember if you test any lip or eyeliner/mascara products, don't use the testers (at least directly).
Quality ranges from product to product so I won't get into that.
Prices....one eyeshadow can be from $5 to $30. There are a lot of value sets where you can get many mini products and kits have a better value than individually buying things.
Unfortunately, at the 3 stores I have been at, the service was pretty bad. The lines move slowly because they don't ever have more than 2 people at the registers, even at a grand opening! They are really good at applying make up and helping you find products for your skin or what you are looking for. But sometimes they can be a little rude if you ask something. They ask if you need any help, but they don't annoy you by following you around the store and stuff.
The rewards program is good, you sign up for free and you get a free item on your birthday, and a small item for every 100 points and a full size exclusive item every 500 points. It is one dollar per point.
Sephora is definately one of my favorite stores! If you are new to it, research it online (the website) because it is very overwhelming when you go, especially if it is a big one.
Have fun! :)
Sephora stores give you free makeovers!!!!!!! I had an awesome time there. They show you how to use their products and give you advice about which to use for your look!!!!
All I've heard is Sephora this and Sephora that but only just this year did Ottawa finally get one of these stores.
Honestly - there is A LOT of stuff I wouldn't dream of spending money on (example: $31 dollars for a LIP GLOSS?! I think not!). Some of the prices are absolutely ridiculous for the amount you are getting.
There are some good buys and it is nice to have everything in one place, but unless you are willing to part with your hard earned money, you may want to look elsewhere first.
