Stay far away from SHAPES Fitness

If I could give ZERO stars here I would. . .Search and read reviews before you get sucked into this scam of a company. Read on and decide for yourself. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone. . . Very poor business ethics and zero customer service. . . Was excited to sign up for a one year membership on February 28 2020 thinking this was a great treat for myself, a 24/7 women's only fitness center, 2 blocks away from my house. Awesome!. . Then Covid closed all businesses on March 18 (photo attached, stating Membership Fees will be Frozen, but mine were NOT) - so you could not access Shapes facilities even if you wanted to. I tried to cancel my brand new contract (I only set foot in the door TWICE before the lockdown) - but they were completely unreasonable (very rude too) and said it was too late to do so (had to requested be within 7 days, in writing). They kept withdrawing money every 2 weeks from my account for 6 months - even while they were CLOSED!! Emails/phone calls did not help fix this. . . Oh, then months later they put a Covid-19 "Waiver" up on their website which you have to sign before you can access their limited (appointment only) facilities (because Covid is so transmissible and high risk). Basically it says Sure Come On In, Take A Chance - But If You Catch Covid Here and Die It's Your Fault Not Ours. People with any medical issues clearly cannot sign this waiver! . . . So, a year later, I have now paid almost $1000 for something I couldn't even use! A decent company with ethics would have taken the pandemic into account and made judgement calls to let newly signed up people cancel rather than continue to steal money from them for no services. Gouging and thievery. . . OH - and getting harrassing calls daily from a COLLECTION AGENCY saying I owe Shapes money on top of it when I do not? The ultimate insult.

HORRIBLE just like the other reviews say!

Guess I should have done more research before signing up for a "women only location - open 24/7, basic, no frills membership" on Henderson Hwy! Signed up Feb 28, 2020 and only got to use the facility twice before the entire company shut down on March 18, 2020 due to the CoVid19 pandemic. BUT - the first payment was withdrawn from my chequing account the very next day, March 19 (for the door access key fob). Then every 2 weeks an automatic withdrawl of $16.84 was taken out - even though the company sent out emails saying "all accounts would be frozen and payments stopped due to CoVid19". NONE of the payments stopped (as of today, June 15, 2020). I even tried stopping payments with my bank on the scheduled days - but sneaky Shapes took out DOUBLE payments ($33.68) on the very next day!! I was shocked, especially now since so few people are actually working due to the pandemic and have no money for food, let alone this. Wow. . . I emailed all of the contacts I had for the company requesting to please CANCEL my membership immediately and stop payments - even sent an actual letter - but no luck. Emails were answered by Manager "Christine T" giving me no satisfaction at all, just lip service. I originally signed up for a membership giving me convenient 24/7 access - but if they are unable to provide that then at least have the decency to CANCEL MY BRAND NEW MEMBERSHIP IMMEDIATELY - and refund the payments that were taken out of my account while the entire company was closed (see attached picture)!! Stay away from this company. Read the other reviews!

Worst gym I've ever joined

Unfortunately typing my never ending would never express my opinion of Shapes and their poor customer service and incompetence. I joined end of October 2017 with my 3 daughters and have had nothing but errors ALL at their end to which continue to happen weekly with regards to payments made for family membership and personal training for my daughter. To which she was sold 2 sessions under the impression she was paying bi-weekly until sessions were complete NOT continue to make the payments for 26 bi-weekly payments which is in small print under her signature.
Has anyone been able to find a owner contact or even an head office you can go down to as I was told you can't go to the head office it's a secret!
How this company stays in business while treating their customers with such disrespect is a disgrace.

Shapes are Crooks

Shapes on McPhillips underwent renovation work this spring so the showers were not available and the washroom was a portable toilet outside.. I froze my membership and got an membership at another gym. The renovation work was suppose to take one month and it took 3 instead. When the renovation work was complete, the activated my membership without telling me even though I continued to use the gym once a week for yoga. I purchased 20 classes with groupon to pay for the hot yoga classes. Groupon allowed me to purchase the classes and Shapes gave me a new card and contract when I returned to the gym. They still did not tell me that my other contract was active so I was being charged for two memberships at the same time. After my groupon classes ran out, I found out that they were charging me for my other membership as well. After a week of heated email exchanges, I finally agreed to purchase an annual membership so that they would not charge me for a membership that I was not using. This organization has no integrity and I would not recommend them to anyone.
