We buy lots of our summer veggies at Strouds. It might be more expensive then flyer specials but it's local (and generally grown with Canadian standards of pesticides which is lower) and I get to support local farms. Eating well costs a bit more, but we've making the commitment when we can. So happy that this is nearby.
(I'd love to tell you about the lady who lives in a house on a country road near here who bakes incredible pies from scratch and puts them out in a stand by her curb ...and you go slip money into a box and drive away wiht home-baked yumminess. Her name is Mary and she makes butter tarts to die for!)
A family run farmers market which sells the best produce in Durham Region. They have two locations - the main market is at Taunton and Lakeridge, and during the late Summer, you can also find them at Kingston Road and Lakeridge.
We always get our farm-fresh corn from Strouds. Anywhere else, it's just not the same. They have fabulous produce and yummy baked goods. Wonderful fresh tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, squashes, onions, etc. I haven't had a bad thing yet. A great way to help support local farmers.
