Okay so I've probably been to at least 20 different Japanese restaurants in Toronto so far. The service here is generally bad. I've been here at least 6 times now (don't ask) and the service is never great. We went in for lunch (it was a nice cool, breezy day outside) and it was stuffy and humid inside - no a/c no air circulation, door open or a fan would have been good. We sat there, waiting to see if anything changed (there was one other table) and no one greeted us (waitress was on the phone), so we sat down once she got off the phone and told us to sit anywhere. We asked for water. Nothing. We asked to go sit outside and then carried our menu (there were two of us but she only brought one menu). She had asked us if we were doing all you can eat, but hadn't given us time to even decide yet. We sat outside for another 10 minutes, waiting to order (still only one table inside and us). Finally the waitress came and took our order. We asked for water again. She finally brought us some. Unlike the slew of Japanese restaurants on Bloor st, no lunch specials. We ordered bento boxes. They came in a decent amount of time, nicely displayed, no complaints. California rolls stayed together (this time) and the salmon teriyaki was good. Overall I'd come here if I was desperate, but wouldn't go out of my way. The waitresses here need proper customer service training in order for me to up this to 3 stars. This is a big city where I choose where I spend my money. There are lots of other places I can get the same quality of food for less, with better customer service. I hope they improve on this, because the food here isn't bad.
