I loved Target so so so much! I wish we still had it in Canada :( I found my favourite bag there! Along with great shirts and shoes. They always had such pretty home decor items and good selection of everything. Apparently Canadian Target sucks compared to US Targets but I loved our local Target. I was so sad when it closed forever .
Before they closed down I liked the one in St. Catharines it had an escalator. They prices weren't impressive until the clearance closing sale at 90% off
I only went there a few times. The store always was always empty. They never seemed to have a lot of items on the shelves. I only went because there was a deal on something I really needed. It was sad to see the place deserted in comparison to the hectic Walmart store just down the road. I was never impressed by their Christmas selection; I was expecting so much more. I thought that all the delicious products that I would find in the states would be available there but that was not the case. In my opinion the better deals were to be had at Walmart.
I am going through Target withdrawal right now.
I knew it was too good to be true when one of the reasons I loved shopping there was because of how empty the store usually was. I usually made a weekly trip to stock up on essentials (their house brand was amazing) and walk the perimeter for tons of clearance items.
Many things I routinely picked up at Target were on par in terms of price with local SDM or Walmart - with the service being 100x more pleasant at Target than at Walmart in particular. I haven't been to a Walmart since Target Canada opened, and I don't really have any desire to go back after being so spoiled by Target.
I made sure to stock up on tons of stuff during their liquidation! Target, you will be missed!
Unfortunately Target Canada is gone now, it was so short lived. My mom, my sister and I loved shopping there because the atmosphere was so nice. The store is big so you don't feel like you are bumping into other shoppers. They had so much great selection and the Christmas stuff was amazing! I have no idea why people didn't shop there, but I found the prices to be great and the merchandise,
I haven't been back to Target much, in part because the locations are not well placed. Even though there is one about a 10 minute drive from my home, it takes about 30 minutes on the bus before a 5 minute walk across the parking lot. Granted, I went early after the launch, but wasn't so impressed that I've rushed back. I found the selection very similar to the former Zellers. The make up was very picked over, I didn't see anything in the clothing or accessories that was stunning and the house ware items were not as nice as they are at Home Sense, although they were about the same price. My biggest dissappointment is that almost 2 years after the launch there is still no online shopping. If I was sure that they might have what I wanted I might make a trip.
I Love Target Canada. It is one of my favorite stores. They have high quality stuff at low quality prices. They always have amazing deals. I shop there for everything. I find their home decor comparible to Homesense but at Walmart prices. They also bring in products that you can not get at Walmart. They market their products very well. I am always aware of the deals they have going on
I just love target. It's not as jam packed as the other big box stores and the prices are right on par. They have amazing clearance selections, I particularly love their jewelry - what great styles at affordable prices!
I've yet to meet a department at Target I didn't love :)
I could stroll for hours, but I try not to. The staff is friendly and courteous and you can tell they are happy to be at work. A Target, A !
A lot of people are disappointed with Target Canada because it doesn't live up to the american stores. I can't compare since I haven't been to one in the US, but since it came to Victoria BC I have saved soo much money!
Sure, they don't follow the SCOP that's because they would go broke.... but use it to your advantage. If the item rings up at a different price from the shelf price, they still will give it for the price posted.
Another annoying fact is that most of their sales are not advertised in their flyers. You have to physically wander the store to get great deals, but it's worth it!. They often decide they want to clear out a product or section and mark things down up to 75% off!
Last week they had a temporary price cut on cheese (all varieties) and I bought $174.00 worth of cheese for $50.00!!! I have cheese for the next year! (It freezes well) They also have a lot of clearance items such as cereal, canned goods, frozen goods that they spontaneously mark way down. IE: cereal regularly priced at $3.99 down to $1.19.
On top of all the great sales, their Market Pantry brand often matches Wallmart prices sometimes cheaper, I buy many of my staples from there.
Target also has coupons on every receipt with purchase, which is great for stacking with manufacturer coupons and in-store sales.
One last comment...take advantage of rainchecks since they don't stock their shelves well, it 's worth it in the end:)
On the whole, there are a lot of negative things people don't like about Target Canada, but the good far outweighs the bad, you just have to work it to your advantage!
Happy shopping everyone!!:)
I am a Canadian obviously. I was rather excited when the Target opened up here in my city. I was not enthusiastic when I saw the prices though. The staff was not all that welcoming and I could get some of the products cheaper at my local Walmart. My overall experience was not a positive one.
