Taz on Bloor (Kingsway): Received barely trimmed bob from a pompous twit. They charged me $100.00. A week later I've already trimmed stray bits twice and need to get a real haircut in short time. Worst experience.

I have been to Taz Hair Salon at both the Etobicoke and Yorkville location. From most staff, I have experienced very poor customer service, being met with arrogance and contempt. I find this outrageous, considering the cost of their hair stylists/colourists.

Kris Genga, a hair stylist, who works at both Etobicoke and Yorkville locations is the only reason I have continued to go to this salon. She left a career to pursue her passion as a hair stylist. Her passion, dedication, enthusiasm, and approachable/amiable personality make every client feel special enough to come back and stay with her for the long run. I have extra copies of her business card and consistently recommend her, not the salon, to friends/colleagues.

I have had very bad experiences with colourists at both locations, and have actively recommended people NOT go to Taz Hair Salon to have their hair coloured and persuaded those who were thinking of going. I have had my hair coloured (blonde highlights) by three different stylists, varying from junior to senior staff members. I have not felt that they invested enough time in their consultation to fully understand what their clients were looking for. I even brought pictures of blonde highlights I had done in the past to show them what I wanted.

One hair stylist, Dawn Whytall, was the worst colourist I have ever encountered. I went to the Yorkville salon after recommendations from a friend and asked her to add soft blonde highlights to my naturally dirty blonde/light brown hair. What I ended up with was YELLOW hair. I was absolutely mortified. When I spoke to her about my dissatisfaction, she refused to acknowledge the mistake (highlights vs. dyed fully blonde). I had to go back three times to have the colour fixed. On the last visit, I outright told her and the senior arrogant hair stylist Norm that I did not ask to be fully blonde, I only wanted soft blonde highlights due to my pale complexion. Dawn and Norm actually had the nerve to recommend that I compensate by wearing more bronzer instead of fixing her mistake.

After being their for a third time to fix THEIR mistake, they added toned down highlights. Then, they added toner only to the bottom half of my hair. I actually pulled her out of her staff room, where she was negatively speaking about me to other staff members, to add toner to the top half of my hair. Initially she refused, and I forced her to add it in. I would have ended up with yellow blonde on the upper half of my head and soft blonde on the lower half. The mistake that was averted by adding toner was never acknowledged by either hair stylists. This seems to be a pattern considering other reviewers' experiences summarized below.

I was and continue to be outraged by the lack of customer service, arrogance and outright contempt of the staff members. I consider Kris Genga to literally be the saving grace of the salon and the only reason I would even consider putting up with the rude behaviour of other staff members during my visits.

I've been going to Taz for two years for colour, seeing a pretty talented guy who initially fixed a bad dye job and for the last eight months has been trying to help me go grey. It has proved a bit of a challenge, but I've stuck with him and the process till now, which has cost about $1200 over multiple sessions so far. That was never my intention, but such is life, and we were getting there. Last week i went in for the latest round of highlights and called immediately afterwards to tell them that the tone wasn't right. Back in today for what turned into two tries and over three hours to get it right. Then the guy who came over to dry my hair told me he wasn't going to fully dry it because I wasn't booked in for that. I told him i was there for a fix, and with full on contempt he said something along the lines of, "yeah, it's your third time for a fix isn't it?" Not true (and not relevant) and i told him that and it went down hill from there. Rudest person I've every dealt with and it turns out he's an owner. Daniel. Hostile and contemptuous of clients. I will never go back.

After bouncing around from salon to salon I finally found my dynamic duo!!!
I heard through a friend that Bloor-Yorkville was hosting a Fall "BEAUTYLICIOUS" promotion, where salons and spas were offering their services at a discounted rate (for one week only!), so I checked it out online and took a chance by booking at TAZ Hair Co. I spoke with a lovely woman named Cheryl on the phone and told her a little about my hair and she booked me with who she felt would best suit my hair needs, Boy was she ever right! Many thanks to Norm and Christina for making me feel saucy again! I'll be seeing you guys in 8 weeks!!!!

I've been to several hair salons over the years and TAZ by far is one of the greatest.
I must admit I was a little skeptical when my friend told me it was located in Yorkville, but the people at TAZ are so real, and it really IS just about the hair!
I highly recommend Klaudia for colour and Tommy for haircuts!
    See you next month!

I've been following Norm at TAZ Hair Co. for several years now, and I can honestly say that my experience with each visit to the salon has always been a blast, I am never disappointed!
I know I'll most likely find a new hairdressing award on their Wall of Fame every year too! What I love best is that they never let it get to their heads either, the staff at TAZ are everyday people, just like you and me.
From the moment I walk through the front door, I am greeted and offered a hot or cold beverage, I can grab a magazine and read, or watch whats on the flatscreen TV. Sometimes I like to come in a little early and see if the esthetician Eva is available so that I can have my nails manicured before my haircut.
I know I can rely on my stylist Christina to offer me a solid consultation before I get my hair washed, she really just "gets it"!

The best part about TAZ is their referral program! I get stopped everywhere I go and asked about my hair! I can pass over a referral card and the next time I visit the salon I'll have a free product waiting for me! I'll never have to buy product again! Thank you TAZ!

I went to this salon after doing a lot of research on getting hair extensions, because i was nervous about damaging my hair and wanting good quality hair and finding a salon that cared about doing a good job and having experience. My search ended at Taz salon in yorkville. Thinking that I would have my hair done by a very qualified person high end, i agreed to pay 1300 plus to have hair extensions done. I think in fact it was the owner who did the extensions...I found him to be unfriendly, the entire place to be uncomfortable. He did the extensions in 1.5 hours--i think a bit too fast, without much care. The staff around him were literally firting with the customers....I felt belitted in general, the extensions were cut after much pressure and a bit too close to my personal space if you know what i mean.....the whole experience was pretty much a nightmare. I was made to feel uncomfortable. Unless you are a model type--and i am not even that bad looking don't go into this place. The prices are ridiculous and worst of all, after 1300 plus in this place my extensions ended up a disaster and alot of my hair fell out. Around this salon there are places where you can get better extensions and better service, not to mention no feeling of being personally assaulted for a quarter of the price. So please look elsewhere for a good salon. The only thing I can say about this place is that they have some good colorists . Outside of that, the experience has been a nightmare..;.I literally felt assaulted. Please do not waste your money on this overpriced place. This is coming from personal experience.

If you want to leave a salon feeling absolutely horrible about yourself, then I highly reccommend this place. It is unfortunately a very intimidating place with stylists that are very high on themselves, unprofessional and can't even wait until after you leave before ridiculing you right infront of you--....rude, sarcastic, hurtful people especially since they charge an arm and a leg. There is too much attitude here and all they want to do is rush you out the door for the next victim to throw away their money as they laugh at you! In terms of quality of cuts, it really is a hit and miss so given the uncomfortable atmosphere with no guarantee of a good hair cut, I would recommend finding another place. Believe me, if you are not a model...they will make you feel extremely unattractive, and immediately upon looking at you will judge and decide if you are worth trying to be nice too.

Afters years of getting my hair done at different salons over the GTA I have definitly found a KEEPER! Taz Hair Co. was recommeded to me by a friend who gets her hair colored there and thats what I went in for-hair coloring. I must say that I am VERY IMPRESSED! I have never gone to a salon for my hair color and left the salon with exactly WHAT I WANTED! My stylist was a junior stylist building up her clientelle so a Senior Stylist was there to oversee the process . Although she was a junior she still did an amazing job! Will definitly go back!!!!
