I could see the Revolving Restaurant being a good place to come for a few drinks, but eat before you go out. I've been disappointed everytime.
the Revolving Restaurant should be the best restaurant in Winnipeg. It has the best view in the city (the floor slowly rotates so you can see all 360 degrees of it) and it is located beside the most posh hotel in the City, the Fort Garry. And yet. After a nice glass elevator trip up to this restaurant the consumer is greeted by neoclassical-meets-70's-tacky decor. The next thing one might notice is the fact that the radio, commercials and all, is playing over the intercom. And it isn't even CBC, it's power 97 (rock). Then the server comes by. There is nothing wrong with him, only the news he brings. "One of the cooks didn't show up today so we only have buffet available". Ok, and the buffet, we were convinced, was the same stuff they sold at lunch time, nearly 6 hours earlier. Basically it was various pieces of overcooked meat swimming in a variety of unappetizing sauces, followed by a pale, limp salad bar and a few hard buns. There were also some bored looking chefs standing my enormous hunks of dry looking meat, some cheese and crackers, as well as some frightening looking seafood lying limply on a plate. The dessert bar wasn't bad, though. We ended up filling up on little pieces of brownie or cheesecake that looked like it had been sat upon, but actually didn't taste bad. Oh yes, and they make a not bad fuzzy navel. One more note about the washrooms - they are a claustrophobic's nightmare. they are tiny and humid and the walls are ALL WHITE. IT's like a bad dream. Anyway, don't go to this restaurant. the buffet thing was an exception to the norm, but all reports on their a la carte menu have come back uninspiring.
