When I first went to Tula I gotta admit that I was a little intimidated at the size of the facility but after my first class I felt really welcome and comfortable. I've attended four classes so far and I'm starting to get pretty good at it. The staff is very warm and friendly, not to mention patient because it took me a bit to get in the full swing of it. If you're starting out at yoga Tula is a great place to start but they have some pretty advanced classes too. The studio was really clean and tastefully decorated, they had a few really cool paintings on the walls and I really liked the way the air smelled, some kind of essential oils or something similar.

Tula yoga is by far on of my favourite yoga studios in the city. They have the perfect balance between zen calm and female warrior kick butt classes. Think dimly lit candles, modern music to let you day sweat away and highly trained staff who aren't afraid to let you giggle in those semi-akward moments. The staff at the front desk are very friendly and knowledgeable, all the while remaining understanding of each individuals yogi needs. I have been to many yoga studios in the city and Tula is the only studio that knows each customer by name! As a former dancer, I heart their flow classes that keep up a fast pace and challenging postures. Grace's class is a must! Personally, I think Tula Central has the best staff but the secret is out as their classes can get very busy (with the after work crowd), I would recommending arriving 15-30 before each class. Tula West is 2nd in my books but has bigger studios, more space beyond your matt and the best Buddha collection to get you in the mood pre-class. Haven't made the venture to Tula South yet.
I love Tula Central. I have been going here for years because the facilities are clean, the staff is helpful and the yoga instructors truly are the BEST in the city. I have brought friends that are both new to Yoga and advanced in Yoga because the classes at Tula are very accessible and you can make your practice as challenging as you want (depending on your fitness level). I would never switch Yoga studios unless of course I was going to another Tula location. Best yoga in the city - hands down!
Hi, I've been to many classes at Tula Central and I would definitely recommend it to anyone! The front desk staff is very helpful and friendly and is always available to answer any questions I had about the classes. As for the classes, I like the wide variety of teachers and types of yoga they offer and I'm sure you can find a class and teacher that suits your style. Each teacher has her own style of teaching and although they follow the hatha sequence, they mix it up so that classes don't become too repetitive, like at some other studios in the city. Overall, I've had many wonderful experiences at Tula and I recommend it to anyone who's a beginner or an avid yogi!
The instructors from this studio are not great, but they are good enough for beginners. Reasonable amount of classes, you can choose one that fits your schedule.
However what turns me off is one guy(he's the only guy there that I've seen) from the front desk is very rude. I've overheard him giving this girl a hard time in front of everyone on how she should've signed her name before class not after. I mean that girl should've probably done that, but it's not like she trying to cheat and not put her name there....he ruined the experience......
I found the beginner class to be pretty easy- so I suggest a more advanced class to anyone who has had more than 10-20 classes. The instructor was very helpful and friendly but my experience was tainted by the dirty showers and awful man at the front desk.
I accidentally left my necklace in the yoga room and returned the next day to claim it. He proceeded to complain about how many customers leave belongings behind. He pulled out my necklace from the lost and found box and questioned if it was really mine. Then he asked me "Do you know how this situation can be avoided?" and began to lecture me on how I shouldn't leave my belongings there again.
He then began telling my boyfriend about how he chased down and threatened a child for stealing his very fancy bike. I'm not making this up.
But yes, I realize that this situation could have been avoided if I never went to Tula Yoga. I will never return despite the good instructors. Rude front desk staff ruined whatever zen I achieved through yoga.
Absolutely Amazing!!
From the moment I walked in I felt at peace! The incense in the air, the candles, the water fountain - so relaxing! The front desk people were fantastic and really helpful in going through the class schedule (TONS of classes to choose from) and figuring out which package best suited by schedule and budget.
The yoga classes I have been taking are incredible. The ambiance in both studios is warm and relaxing and the candle light and music totally make the experience. The instructors each have their personal flare which makes each class unique and memorable.
Everything about the studio from location & customer service to class types and scheduling is fantastic! I highly recommend!
I went to a free hot yoga class here awhile ago.
The receptionists were very nice to me. When I came it the receptionist was a female and when I left it was a male. Both were polite, gave advice and asked my opinions on the classes.
I went to a hot power flow class which was a bit over my level but since it was free I went for it anyway. Unlike some other hot yoga classes there was no 2 mins break in the middle. I did not like the instructor. Especially compared to the instructors I've had at The Yoga Sanctuary (where I regularly go) this instructor did not seem very competent. She was knowledgeable about the poses and did fix my posture once. She probably knew there were many beginners and new people because this was free class and it was advertised for all levels but she didn't explain the poses at all and just expected everyone to follow. I am probably a novice in yoga and had trouble following her because she wasn't very clear.
The prices are $12-$18/class depending if you buy a punch card or not. I would definitely not go for $18/class, that's pretty ridiculous in my opinion.
Overall, I probably wouldn't go again. I would want to check out a more beginner class with a different instructor but wouldn't want to pay $18/class to do so. And I wouldn't commit myself to going to 10 classes if I didn't like it. The beginner special $10 for the first class and a free second class is a good way to test the waters to see if it's for you.
I went to Tula Yoga & Spa last week for their Wellness Week event (free classes!). The location is great and close to the subway. The exterior of the building isn’t the greatest, but it’s very nice on the inside – hard wood floors, good lightings, lots of room etc.
SERVICE: My friend and I were shocked by the rude service at the front desk. There was one gentleman that seemed to be running the operation that had a lot of negative opinions about customers and processing paperwork. He singled someone out who as not filing out the form correctly, asked if someone else had an aversion to towels (because they didn’t bring one), told people to stop blocking the hallway etc. It felt it couldn’t be real almost.
CLASS: Excellent! Great instructor and made me feel comfortable. Much more physical than some other hot yoga classes I’ve been too. I felt some pain the next day so I knew the class was really effective.
Overall, despite the bad service I’d actually go back to Tula. The instructor was great and the location couldn’t be better. Perhaps the person at the front was having a stressful week because it was busy, so I’ll have to report back next time if it’s just as bad.
I came here for a lunch time Hot Hatha Power Flow Yoga class the other day. I must say... I really got my sweat on!
The front desk staff I find to be very mellow and casual. Almost a little too casual? I think that they could be a little bit more professional. Though I found that the yoga instruction made up for it. The instructor was good, and did not go through the positions too quickly. She went around the room helping to gently re-adjust people's postures.
The studio is quite nice... very nicely decorated with two rooms for yoga/pilates. The entire place smells of incense, and when I first walked in I immediately could feel the calm atmosphere. The change room is too small though, and it feels more like a storage place for yoga mats. And like the others had said... although the bathroom is nice and clean, there are only two showers. The lockers are also really small... so try not to bring a backpack with you.
Overall I really like this place and the hot yoga felt amazing. I felt refreshed and energized, ready for the rest of the day! I will probably come back here again for more in the future.
