I do not live in Ottawa, but the winners store I went to was not what I had imagined at all. The merchandise is super cheap quality, no one helps you out and gives you advice. The prices are way too expensive for what you are getting. Just over all not a good shopping experience for me. Never going there again.
I find each Winner's has a particular thing they do well. You have to have patience when shopping there, particularly when alone and trying on clothes because you can only take so many items into the change room. And if you go in specifically looking for a certain item, forget it. But if you go in, take your time and a cart and pull anything that remotely peaks your interest you will end up with a few 'winners'. I personally love the purses. I find the best options there at a price i'm willing to pay.
Winners stores are all over the place. Some locations have great merchandise that you just love and others have junk. Its really hit or miss and you have to be able to find the diamond in the rough when your shopping there. The best thing is that they have discounted skin care products that are really worth looking for. The clothes not always the best deal and not always in fashion. Shop at your own risk.
Winners is okay. It's really hit and miss sometimes, and it's all about patience. Winners is sort of like Marshall's. If you're patient enough to go through rack-through-rack, which will take forever, then you could really find some good deals for designer stuff. But honestly, an outlet mall is just as good and it's way easier to find stuff... Winners isn't very organized it's quite messy actually.
The service isn't that good either... but regardless, you should definitely check it out if you have some patience :)
Love the store - hate the mess and lack of help. If you are willing to spend a few hours brousing and trying things on, and waiting in long lines to pay at the cash, then it is worth it. But it is never a get in and get out shopping experience.
If they can bump up their cleanliness and have some friendly salespersons around when you need one, maybe people wouldn't be so frustrated to go.
Still, there are good bargains - sometimes.
Winners... some pros, lots of cons.
Pros:
- Discounted merchandise
- Great for home decor, kitchen stuff (not great if you need to match existing items, but fun for random doodads), bedding
Cons:
- Messy!
- Items often not in great condition - small holes, stretched, slightly dirty
I used to come here more often when I was a broke student, but honestly now, I mainly will stop in to look at linens and the kitchen section, but I haven't bought clothes here in years. Would be a "partially recommended" for me.
The store is not appealing. It is very messy, and unorganized. One has to sift through large long racks of mixed clothing for which i have no patience and please watch for defects before you buy. It is hard to find a person to help you. There are some deals but not enough to make me want to go in. Some of the merchandise for the home i.e. decorations are over priced and can be bought elsewhere for much cheaper. There is very little advertising or flyers not to mention deals to speak of. Not on my shopping list of stores to go to.
i hate this store. unorganized, ugly, dirty, the stuff isn't helpful at all. not worth for me to shop there.
