I have to be honest here: the food was good but not what I'd expect from the area. Something hit me as incongruous. For the price, I'd say it was good but not memorable. I can't criticize it but I really want to be wowed. I'm not a food snob - but I want quality, value and experience at whatever level of resto I'm eating at.
Honestly I have had STELLAR meals at Peller and at Charles Inn (both within a 5 minute drive of this place)... do one of those instead. Other options in the area for better food include Riverbend (okay I got married there so I'm biased), Trius (aka Hillebrand) or Autumn and Vineland Estates a little further afield.
For some reason people keep recommending this place to us but of the 2 times we've been here, we've regretted it twice.
While the location and atmosphere are lovely, the food is mediocre. If you purchase a package with the Shaw Club or Harbour House you may find yourself here for your dinner or breakfast. For a package that is almost $1000 a weekend, you'd expect great food, wouldn't you?
The package breakfast here is one of the saddest I've seen. A few assorted pastries and a plate of fruit is what I'd expect to eat at the Holiday Inn or an airport lounge in between flights. Not as part of an expensive weekend package. Our dinner experience was worse though. We were staying at the Harbour House (gorgeous and highly recommended) and our package included dinner here. We were treated like second class citizens because we had a voucher. While our server was best buddies with his other tables, he left us sitting and sitting... and sitting. When the food finally arrived it was not very good. We were already irritated with how long we had to wait to be served so we decided to leave. The management came over and offered us dessert as a peace offering, but seeing as we had a pre-paid package that included dessert (and the tip!) we were hardly appeased by this offer. Thankfully the Harbour House ended up refunding our meal from our package, which was very kind of them considering it wasn't their fault.
The dinner we had was 4 years ago, so I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt that things are better there now, but the sorry breakfast was last year so I doubt we'd want to go back.
BTW if you are deciding between staying at Shaw Club or Harbour House, go with Harbour House. They have a great wine and cheese each night around 5pm and are happy to arrange tours for you. We were also very impressed with the professionalism of the staff.
